Manchester Utd crowned Premier League champion

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 31st Premier League goals of the season, and Ryan Giggs strike late to gave Manchester United a 2-0 victory against Wigan, and ultimately the Premiership title of the 2007/2008 season.

Ronaldo kept his nerved to covert a penalty on 33rd minute after Wayne Rooney was fouled in the box. Giggs, introduced on the 68th minute for his 758th United appearance, has equalled the record by Sir Bobby Charlton… and there would be no better way to celebrate that milestone by scoring a goal in the 80th minute.

A remarkable season for Manchester United, a great season for Ronaldo, but it’s not over yet. There is one more game to go on May 21… the Champions League final in Moscow.

Sir Bobby Charlton hails Ronaldo

Manchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton believes Cristiano Ronaldo has the ability to become one of the game’s all-time greats.

“He is potentially one of the great, great players,” Sir Bobby told ManUtd.com. “He is not like any other player we’ve seen before.”

“I can’t compare him with anyone. He’s fast, strong and he does things with the ball that most people only dream about. He’s a quality player at the highest level and someone who excites me greatly.”

“He takes responsibility and leads by example. I don’t think it’s necessarily intentional but he does it anyway. You can see that by what he did at Fulham last month when he literally won the game on his own.”

“He lifted the team and our winning goal was all down to him. In fact, a lot of our important goals are coming from Ronaldo now.”
