Wayne Rooney insists “the best player in the world at the moment” can help Manchester United FC past the sizeable hurdle of AS Roma and into the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The 21-year-old striker is backing his fellow attacking prodigy, Cristiano Ronaldo, to keep on producing the magic and conjure a victory on what promises to be a difficult night of European football at Old Trafford.
“Cristiano has won games on his own this season, he has been unbelievable, and at the minute he is by far the best player in the world,” Rooney stressed. “Hopefully he can work some of his magic and get us into the semi-finals.”
The interviewed was before the match obviously; and Rooney has his wish granted as Ronaldo scored twice as United humbled Roma 7-1 at Old Trafford.
