Ronaldo scored a double to give Manchester United a 3-1 victory against Tottenham in the 4th round FA Cup game at Old Trafford.

It was a tight and exciting match. Tottenham were beaming with confidence after thrashing Arsenal in midweek’s Carling Cup semi-finals, and they gave United plenty of troubles from the start of the game.

Tottenham almost took the lead on 16th minute from a corner, but was only denied by Wayne Rooney on the line. It came no surprise when Robbie Keane scored the game opener on 24th minute, thanks to a fine move from Aaron Lennon.

The goal was like a wake up call for United players, who began to up their pace pushing for an equaliser, and they managed to get what they wanted on 38th minute, with Carlos Tevez the scorer.

Jermaine Jenas should have took the lead again for Tottenham in first half stoppage time; he was clean through but only managed a weak shot that was saved by United’s goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar.

Both side started aggressively in the second half, but didn’t have decent chances to find the net. The competition was then turned to United’s favour in 68th minute when Michael Dawson was sent off for a handball in the box. Ronaldo converted the spot kick.

With United having the lead and Tottenham with a man short, the game should be over… but it wasn’t so. Tottenham gave a good fight and dominated the game with 10-men, and United’s men somehow started to look really clumsy at the back.

Tottenham came real close to get an equaliser on the 85th minute, but Dimitar Berbatov’s effort was saved by the post while Van der Sar was rooted on the ground.

Ronaldo then got his second of the match on 88th minute, albeit thanks to a howler from Tottenham’s goalie Radek Cerny.

3-1 with a few minutes to go… game over for Tottenham… United through to the next round… Ronaldo celebrating his 25 goal tally for the season.
